Why billet has no open-market price
Rebar and beam are also sold from a merchant’s yard, so they carry a daily market price. Billet is an intermediate: the steelmaker casts it and a rolling mill buys it to turn into rebar. That trade happens between two factories, and the only place it is recorded in public is the exchange floor. Which is why billet prices weekly rather than daily — and why the figure on this page is the last session’s settlement, not a live quote.
Billet for export
Billet 150×150 in 3SP and 5SP is what Iraqi, Turkish and Gulf buyers actually ask for. The figure here is the domestic basis; delivered-border or FOB port pricing adds freight, duties and loading terms, which the export desk quotes.

What is the price of steel billet today?
The market benchmark is billet 150×150 grade 5SP, and its price in the most recent exchange session is at the top of this page. Because billet trades weekly, “today” means the latest official session — its date is printed beside the figure.
Why is there no open-market billet price?
Billet is not a finished product and is not sold to merchants. The steelmaker sells it to a rolling mill, and that trade is recorded on the exchange. Any number published outside that record as a “free-market billet price” is an estimate, not a settled trade.
What is the difference between grade 3SP and 5SP?
Both are semi-killed carbon steel billets; they differ in chemistry and carbon content, with 5SP carrying more carbon and going into higher-grade ribbed rebar. The table on this page shows what that difference was actually worth in the latest session.
Is this the export price of billet?
No. It is the domestic Rial settlement, ex-works. The dollar equivalent is converted at the free-market rate so it can be compared, but it is not FOB Bandar Abbas or a delivered-border price; those add freight, duties and loading terms.
