Frequently asked questions

How is rebar weight calculated?

Kilograms per metre = 0.00617 × diameter² (mm). A 14 mm bar is about 1.21 kg/m; a 12 m bar about 14.5 kg.

How is sheet weight calculated?

Length × width × thickness × 7.85. Enter metres and millimetres to get kilograms.

What is the standard section table?

It is the geometric and weight reference for beams, angles and channels. A mill may roll lighter than the published standard.

Why does a mill section differ from the standard table?

Some mills roll light to cut the per-bar ticket. Buy on kilograms and compare the actual section weight.
