Introduction to AMA
AMA is one of the manufacturers of welding consumables in the Iranian market, and its product portfolio is built on two main groups: welding electrodes and welding wire. Products, Dimensions and Standards
AMA electrodes are offered in diameters of 2.5, 3, 4 and 5 mm, and welding wires also appear in the catalog in diameters of 1.2, 1.6, 3 and 4 mm. The combination of listed standards shows that the brand covers both the consumables of common processes (manual metal arc, MIG/MAG and submerged arc) and alloyed wires for special base materials:
- E6013 electrode: a rutile electrode for carbon steel welding; thanks to its stable arc, low spatter and easy slag removal, it is a common choice for general structural welding, plate work and repairs.
- ER70S6, SG2 and SG3 wires: carbon steel wires for the MIG/MAG process; SG2 and SG3 are the DIN designations and ER70S6 is the AWS equivalent of this family. Their main applications are the welding of steel structures, bases and industrial profiles.
- ER80S wire: for welding low-alloy high-strength steels in structures that require higher weld strength.
- ER308L wire: a low-carbon stainless steel wire, suitable for welding austenitic stainless steels.
- ER309L wire: suitable for dissimilar-metal joints, such as joining stainless steel to carbon steel.
- ER4043 wire: an aluminium–silicon wire for welding aluminium alloys.
- S1 and S2 wires: submerged arc welding (SAW) wires used together with welding flux in heavy structures, vessels and applications with high weld deposit.
In regulated or safety-critical applications (such as pressure vessels), the exact welding specification must be matched to the project requirements and technical documents; the suitability of a grade for such uses must not be assumed from its designation alone.
Buying and Selection Guide
- Match the grade to the project: before ordering, check the standard and grade of the product against the project's technical documents (such as the WPS or execution drawings); especially in critical applications, do not assume suitability from the standard name alone.
- Estimate consumption by weight: welding consumables are consumed by weight; estimate your project's consumption in kilograms or tonnes and place the order on the same basis.
- Piece and package weight: the weight of each wire coil or piece and each electrode packet depends on the product's diameter and type; before buying, confirm the package weight and the number of pieces per packet so that your consumption and cost calculations are accurate.
- Pricing unit: the pricing unit of each product (package or piece) is shown separately on the product page; pay attention to it when comparing prices.
- Loading and transport: after choosing the product and size, arrange the loading point, shipping method and freight cost with the seller before final payment.
